Post's Basket Gives Ithaca 62-61 Win Over Elmira

Megan Micho scored a career-high 18 points
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior forward Jill Post (Oxford Academy/Oxford) scored the winning basket with 2.1 seconds left to give Ithaca a 62-61 win over visiting Elmira. Ithaca will be seeded fourth in this weekend's Empire 8 Championship Tournament at St. John Fisher (thanks to Utica's win over Hartwick) and will face the top-seeded Cardinals Friday at 1:30 p.m. in one semifinal. Second-seeded Elmira plays third-seeded Utica in the other semifinal.

Senior forward Megan Micho (Westhill/Syracuse) scored a career-high 18 points and added 11 rebounds, three steals and three assists. Junior guard Erin Sanvidge (Catholic Central/Troy) added 14 points, six assists and four steals.

Post's winning basket followed a pair of missed free throws by the Soaring Eagles with 15 seconds left. Elmira had fought back from a nine-point second-half deficit, tying the score with 4:06 left and taking 61-58 lead with 32 seconds left. Post converted two free throws to pull the Bombers to within one and the teams traded turnovers, setting up Elmira's two missed free throws with 15 seconds left.

The loss dropped Elmira to 0-9 at Ben Light Gymnasium since 1998.
